“WA Food Fund is raising money to provide food and supplies for those in need during the COVID-19 crisis, including the elderly, people who struggle with health issues or have lost their jobs, and children who normally rely on school for meals.
Our neighbors are going hungry during this crisis and we can help.
We need to act now to ensure that everyone in Washington has enough to eat. Every dollar donated helps provide meals for a child or family in need.
There is one constant in this health crisis — communities that struggle with poverty and access to services have the most difficulty meeting their basic needs. Many families cannot afford to stock up on supplies at grocery stores, especially people who have lost their jobs. Many are elderly and or struggle with health conditions. School closures have made it harder for children who normally rely on school for meals.
Even before the virus outbreak, Washington struggled with food insecurity:
- 1 in 10 Washingtonians do not get enough food to meet their basic needs.
- 1 in 6 Washington kids live in a household that faces challenges in putting enough food on the table.
- 1 in 8 Washingtonians live in poverty.”
